Postoperative Instructions

DO:  Sleep with the head of bed elevated 30-40 degrees or sleep in a recliner for the first 2 weeks.

DO:  Use cold compresses to the implant area (30 minutes on, 30 minutes off) for the first 3 days. We recommend cold moist compresses (bucket of water with ice cubes and a washcloth.)

DO:  You may shower the morning after surgery.

DO:  Clean sutures inside your mouth by swishing with hydrogen peroxide 4 to 6 times daily, especially after meals. Please gently spit out peroxide after swishing.

DO:  Use a finger or a baby’s toothbrush when brushing teeth and be very gentle when doing so, as not to disrupt the sutures.
