
Postoperative Instructions
Please avoid sun exposure. Wear a wide brim hat. Avoid peak hours. Wear sunscreen (#30 or higher) or sunblock when instructed to do so for the first 6 months.

Spray or splash lukewarm or cool water gently 4 to 6 times daily on treated areas while using fingertips to pat skin (showering is preferable). This should be done 5 to 10 minutes each time depending on the size of the areas involved.

Pat skin dry with clean plain white washcloth (double rinsed with no softener or bleach).

Apply Vaseline to skin with fingers after each wash. Apply Vaseline only to treated areas. Please be careful not to get the Vaseline in your hair as it is very difficult to get out.

Use a gentle massaging motion to apply the Vaseline.

Apply enough Vaseline to keep your new skin soft and prevent any crusting.
|

Keep your face moist at all times using water and Vaseline.
|

Use clean plain washcloth to blot or soak up excess Vaseline from skin before each cleansing with water.

Pat skin dry with a clean plain washcloth after each washing and re-apply Vaseline.

Touch or rub your new skin with fingers between treatments

Use heavy application of Vaseline.

Rub or wipe skin with Kleenex or facial tissues at any time. Avoid Newspapers.

Use cotton balls or Q-tips on treated areas.

Pick at crusts or scab formations.

| DO NOT: |
Use hair sprays, colognes, perfumes, or any substance with fragrance near or on the face.

Use any products on your face, unless we have specifically instructed you to do so.

WEEK TWO:
Continue cleansing as in week one if crusts are still present and if you are directed to do so. Keep treated areas moist with Vaseline at all times, as long as any crusting or flaking is present. Keep hair spray, colognes, perfumes, or any substance with a fragrance away from treated areas at all times.
WEEK THREE:
Use water-based hypo-allergenic makeup if skin is smooth and free crusts. Remove make-up in shower with water only or Vaseline.
WEEK FOUR:

Use any other soaps, moisturizer, cleansing creams, astringents, Retin-A, glycolic products on face until instructed to do so.

| NOTE: |
With any kind of chemical peel, laser, or dermabrasion it is important to protect yourself from the sun. Please wear a hat of some kind if you are going to be out in the sun. After the fourth or fifth week it is advisable to wear a sunscreen #15.

REMEMBER: Your new skin is as sensitive and delicate as a newborn baby’s....SO.... use good judgment. As healing progresses, your new skin will become more resilient but, this may take 3 to 6 months. Most people agree that the final results are worth the inconvenience.
