DO: Clean suture lines located around the front and back of ear with hydrogen peroxide and
Q-tips 3 times a day.

DO: Apply a small amount of Bacitracin or Neosporin ointment to the suture lines following
cleaning with hydrogen peroxide 3 times a day.

DO: Clean around surgical staples located in the hair-bearing areas with witch hazel on a Q-
tip 6 times a day.

DO: Shower on the first postoperative day (once). This can be anytime that day after the
dressing is removed. Allow warm water, without soap or shampoo to run through your
hair. You may notice some hair that has come loose, this is to be expected.

DO: On the second postoperative day, wash your hair only with Baby Johnson’s Shampoo.
Continue the showers once daily for 1 week.

DO: Sleep with the head of the bed elevated 30 to 40 degrees or sleep in a recliner for the
first 2 weeks following surgery.

DO: Use cold compresses over the face as often as possible for the first 5 days.

Use any hair sprays or conditioners for the first 2 weeks following surgery. No
hair permanents or coloring for the first 6 weeks following surgery.

Use a curiing iron for 4 weeks.

Use a salon hair dryer. It is okay to use a hand held blow dryer on cool, if
necessary.
